What is the Komodo Society? And why the Komodo Dragon?
What is the Komodo Society
The Komodo Society was organized for three purposes:
- Recognize 2E Excellence in our Schools and Communities
- Create networks, support, and opportunities for the 2E community and 2E Super Achievers
- Create opportunities for 2Es to change the dialogue on Neurodiversity, and support 100% of the community.
To do this, the Komodo Society was established with three components to support this mission:
- Komodo Society- a 2E Honors society, identifying and recognizing gifted individuals in the top 10% of their fields, while also being identified as neurodiverse. Learn more Here, or Apply Now!
- Komodo Elite- Real World Superheroes, neurodiverse super achievers and savants in business, academics, research, arts, athletics and more! Learn more Here.
- Friends of the Komodo- Changing the dialogue on neurodiversity by supporting the community through information, programs, and advocacy. Learn more Here, or Give Now!
Why the Komodo Dragon?
The Komodo Dragon is fascinating . It is a lizard, also known as a "Komodo Monitor", and the "Komodo Island Monitor", that lives in the Indonesian Islands.
The Komodo can grow to be 10 feet in length (over 3 meters), and can weigh more than 175 pounds (80 kg).
They are dominate species, and are apex predators in their communities. They do generate toxic proteins and are frequently considered venomous, although experts are mixed if they are truly venomous creatures.

So why the Komodo Dragon? Komodos are fascinating- proving the mythical "Dragon's" do exist. They intrigue by their uniqueness- but despite general awareness of their existence, they are substantially misunderstood, even by scientists who study them.
The Komodo are strong, powerful, and amazing creatures in their own world- yet are also rare, endangered, and do not do well in captivity. The Komodo are extremely unique, misunderstood creatures leading to humans both being intrigued by them, and yet they also fear them.
Is there a better creature to describe the twice-exceptional? The gifted, yet neuro-unique individuals that prove to be so powerful despite so much working against them? Who overcome society's roadblocks to provide so much excellence in the world despite it?
This is why the Komodo Dragon was chosen.
